Ask their friends and family: Other people who know this person well might already know their ring size, so it doesn't hurt to ask.

Take a look at their other jewelry: If you can find another ring in their jewelry collection that fits them, you can measure that with a piece of string or take it to a jewelry store to get help comparing sizes.

Size 9: 2.57 mm on sides, 2.97 mm on “top”.

Size 8: 2.60 mm on sides, 2.98 mm on “top”.

Size 7: 2.62 mm on sides, 2.95 mm on “top”.

Size 6: 2.59 mm on sides, 2.96 mm on “top”.

But, more noticeable is that the thickness on the sides is consistently less than the thickness on the “top” (the knuckle side of your hand). These two measurements are slightly variable by size. (Personally, I hope they go to '14' at some point as I can still only get one for my pinky.) (The top probably won't matter for the actual ring as it varies based on design.) Not much has changed - 0.05 or so variation, which could be tool or user error. I also did two thickness measures, as the thickness of the 'top' (knuckle side) is thicker than on the sides. So, I repeated all these measurements for the Gen 3 (including size 13). (FWIW my Gen 2 size 12 is 21.61mm inner diameter side-to-side and 19.92mm top-to-sensorbump.) Now upgrading to Gen 3 and I just got the Gen 3 Sizing kit. It let me get my size and order a ring without waiting on a sizing kit. Thanks for doing this!
